Teacher Stats Dashboard: A tool that allows teachers to visualize their impact on their classrooms through engaging, gamified elements. This dashboard not only motivates teachers to post more projects but also serves as a platform for fundraising, helping them track their progress and increase support for their classroom needs.
The challenge:
While teachers take great pride in their DonorsChoose projects, overall engagement with the platform was low. Many relied on time-consuming, manual methods to fundraise—printing links, sharing URLs, or using built-in tools.
There was no central place for teachers to track or visualize their impact, and the only available dashboard offered limited project details, making it difficult to stay motivated or see the bigger picture of their classroom progress.
The solution:
After interviewing teachers to understand their goals and what data would be most meaningful, we introduced the Teacher Stats Dashboard—a centralized page showcasing lifetime impact, total funds raised, and a badge system to encourage deeper engagement with the platform.
The dashboard also makes project sharing more enjoyable and rewarding, giving teachers a fun, gamified way to celebrate their accomplishments.
Each teacher’s level reflects their tenure, with experienced educators earning Gold status, and all teachers gaining access to lifetime metrics that highlight their impact. To drive engagement, we introduced fun, meaningful badges that teachers could take pride in.
This approach boosted interaction across the site, leading to a 23% increase in engagement and a noticeable lift in project funding rates.
